About the speaker
Hsin-hui LIN is an award-winning Taiwanese science-fiction writer and a literary critic. She has authored two books, the sci-fi novel Contactless Intimacy (2023) and the short story collection Human Glitches (2020). Her works investigate the blurring boundaries between humans and non-humans in the current technological time. Ms. LIN also frequently publishes reviews and essays on major media, intersecting literary texts with technological, ecological, and medical humanities. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Taiwanese literature at the National Chengchi University, where her research topic is “Sinophone science and speculative fiction”. About the lecture
The talk begins with a brief introduction of the author’s work and an outline of the development of sci-fi in Taiwan and the interdisciplinary projects Ms. LIN participated in. In a broader context, she will give an an overview of Japanese and Korean sci-fi and explain how they and Taiwanese sci-fi can form diverse discourses on futurities.
