School of Economics / Centre for Transnationals’ Studies

With over a hundred years of history, Nankai University in Tianjin is among the top universities in China. The RTG is cooperating with the university’s School of Economics, its Laboratory for Economic Behavior and Policy Simulation, and the Centre for Transnationals’ Studies.

Shandong University

Institute of International Studies / School of North East Asia Studies

The roots of Shandong University date back to the early 18th century. It was reformed as a university in 1901 and is one of the largest universities in China. The RTG has partnered up with the Institute of International Studies and the School of North East Asia Studies, both located in Weihai.

Taiwan

National Taiwan Normal University

College of Liberal Arts

Founded in 1922, National Taiwan Normal University has recently marked its hundredth anniversary. The College of Liberal Arts in Taipei was established in 1955 and is now home to five departments, two graduate institutes, and two research centres.

Deutsches Institut für Japanstudien

The German Institute for Japanese Studies was founded in Tokyo in 1988 and since 2002 is part of the Max Weber Foundation. The institute conducts research on contemporary Japan in a global context and is a sought-after port of call for German-speaking scholars researching Japan.

The University of Tokyo

Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies

The roots of the prestigious University of Tokyo date back to 1877, when the university was established through a merger of three Edo period institutes. The Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies was established in 2000.

Sungkyunkwan University

Department of Korean Language and Literature

With a history dating back as far as 1398, Sungkyunkwan University is one of the most renowned universities in East Asia. The Department of Korean Language and Literature was established in 1946, when the former educational institution was reformed as a university.

Seoul National University

Institute for Korean Political Studies

Hailed as one of, if not the most prestigious university in South Korea, Seoul National University in the nation’s capital teaches over 30,000 students. The RTG has entered a cooperation agreement with the university’s Institute for Korean Political Studies.
