Overview for Calls for Applications: Positions, Affiliated Fellowships and Scholarships for MA students

The RTG programme provides for different types of funded positions, affiliated fellowships and scholarships.

The programme runs over five years (October 2023 to September 2028). Within this funding period, two cohorts of doctoral researchers will be admitted, the first in October 2023, the second in October 2025, as well as one funded postdoctoral researcher and three affiliated postdoctoral fellowships (all in 2023) and four annual qualifying fellowships for MA students. The funding for every doctoral researcher extends over a maximum of four years.  

• Seven funded doctoral researcher positions in 2023 (first cohort, closed)
• Six affiliated fellowships for doctoral researchers in 2023, who provide their own funding, but receive field trip allowance (closed)
• One funded postdoctoral position in 2023 (closed)
• Three affiliated postdoctoral fellowships for researchers with external funding who will receive field trip allowances (closed)
• Four annual scholarships for MA students (qualifying fellowships) between 2023 and 2026 (currently closed)
• One Student Assistant at RUB in 2024 (closed)
• Seven funded doctoral researcher positions in 2025 (second cohort, open)
• Six affiliated fellowships for doctoral researchers in 2025, who provide their own funding, but receive field trip allowance (open)

Calls for applications for the second cohort were announced from December 1 to January 31, 2025.
