In my final MA thesis i would be trying to make sense of neutrality as a political concept in Mainland China. In view of recent wars, crimes against humanity and crises, many countries are quick to position themselves as neutral. One of them is China. But what does “neutral” mean and is it reconcilable with other international obligations of the said country? This thesis will look at this complex concept; more concretely, however, it will delve into how China defines and sees neutrality. The results of the evaluation will help better understand China’s position in international conflicts and, ultimately, make possible projections for the future in terms of how the concept might evolve.
