On May 21, 2024, researchers and qualifying fellows participated in the RTG-organised workshop “Discrimination, diversity and inclusiveness: awareness training for academia”, held online by Prof. Dr. Matteo GARAVOGLIA (Department of International Relations, Tsinghua University) of the academic training and consulting network ImpulsPlus.

After a general introduction to different grounds and types of discrimination, participants identified situations characterized by structural discrimination both within and outside their academic context, discussed the reasons why such situations have emerged as well as the specific role they could play in valuing diversity and, finally, explored how a more inclusive environment can be nurtured.
